Terms & Conditions

How asking for a seat and paying works, how courses run, who owns the materials and your code, and where our promises stop.

Article 1

Who the agreement is with

These terms govern your use of kingcourses.co and every course you take with us. Your agreement is with ABERCYNON RESEARCH LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Iowa, which operates under the name Kingcourses from 6701 Corporate Dr, Johnston, IA 50131, United States. In these terms, “we,” “us” and “Kingcourses” mean that company, and “you” means the person taking the course.

Asking for a seat, paying for a course or joining a live session each mean you accept these terms. If you don’t, please don’t enroll — and if a clause here bothers you, write and tell us which one.

Article 2

Who can take a course

  • You need to be at least 18 years old.
  • The details you give us need to be right. We book the intro call and send session links to the email address and phone number on your form, so a typo can cost you both.
  • A seat belongs to one named person. When an employer pays, the seat is still yours alone; it can’t be shared with a teammate or handed to someone else partway through.

Article 3

Asking for a seat, and paying for it

The form on this site sends us a request. It is not an order, it doesn’t form a contract, and nothing is charged when you send it.

  • We reply within one business day to arrange a call of about thirty minutes with the tutor.
  • If you both agree the course fits, we email you a private payment link in US dollars, or an invoice if your employer is paying. Sales tax is added where the law requires it and shown before you pay. Your seat is held for seven days while payment is outstanding.
  • The contract begins when your payment clears. We then confirm the class dates, session times and syllabus to you in writing.
  • Prices on this site can change, but the price we confirm to you in writing is the one you pay for that class.

Article 4

How a course runs

Courses are taught live over video on a fixed schedule: 2 sessions a week, each about 90 minutes long, with no more than 8 students in a class. All times are given in US Central Time. Sessions are recorded, and the recordings are shared with the class.

  • If illness or an emergency means we have to move a session, we tell you as early as we can and run it at another time.
  • If too few people enroll for a class to run well, we may postpone it. You can then move to the next class or take a full refund.
  • We don’t promise a particular tutor. If we have to change tutors, the new one will have comparable experience.
  • You’ll need a reasonably recent computer, a steady internet connection and a microphone. If a course needs any paid tool or account, its course page names it before you pay.

Article 5

Conduct at the board

People learn fastest when they can ask a half-formed question without being judged for it. We expect everyone to be courteous, and we will remove anyone who harasses, threatens or repeatedly disrupts the class.

  • Don’t record, screenshot or share a session without our written permission; other students appear in it.
  • Don’t share your session links or login details.
  • Keep to yourself anything you learn about another student’s employer, product or code.

If we remove you for serious misconduct, your access ends and no refund is due. We treat that as a last resort, and we will warn you clearly before it happens.

Article 6

Who owns what

The slides, exercises, recordings, starter code and notes we provide belong to ABERCYNON RESEARCH LLC. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own learning, including at work, for as long as we keep them available to you.

That license doesn’t cover reselling or republishing the materials, using them to train an AI model, or using them to teach a course that competes with ours.

Your code is yours. We claim no rights in anything you build, during a course or afterward — the chess engine included.

Article 7

Refunds

Every course comes with a 30-day refund window, set out in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the consumer protection laws that apply to you.

Article 8

What we can't promise

We teach carefully and honestly, but we can’t promise you a job, a promotion, a raise, a passed interview or a fix for a particular problem in your own code.

The courses are educational. They are not professional advice about security, architecture, infrastructure costs or anything else, and you remain responsible for what you put into production.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Article 9

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Polk County, Iowa, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally. Before any of that, we’d much rather settle a problem by email.

Article 10

Changes to these terms

We update these terms from time to time, and the date at the top of the page shows which version applies. If a change materially affects a course you’ve already enrolled in, we’ll email you about it rather than expect you to notice it here.
